Vince Violins — Purchase Warranty

Effective Date: [09-2025]

At Vince Violins, we stand behind every sale. We’re proud to offer a clear, generous warranty—up to six (6) months for the instrument—so you can buy with confidence.

What this warranty covers

These terms apply to instruments, bows, and cases purchased from Vince Violins, as well as repair workmanship performed by our shop.

  • Covered items: Instruments, bows, and cases are warranted to be free from defects in materials and construction for up to 6 months from the date of purchase (see exclusions below).

Vince Violins will, at its option, repair or replace any covered item found to be defective under these terms for the original purchaser. We are the sole arbiter of warranty eligibility. Our liability is limited to repair or replacement of the defective item.

Instrument warranty

Instruments (violin/viola/cello): 6 months from purchase for defects in materials and construction.

  • Who’s covered: Original purchaser only; warranty is non-transferable.

  • Warranty remedy: This is a repair-only warranty. Replacement or store credit is not guaranteed and, if considered, is at Vince Violins’ sole discretion.

  • What’s covered: Defects in materials and construction of the bow stick for 6 month from the purchase date

Seasonal Movement & Humidity -

  • Seam openings are common with seasonal changes and are covered for 6 months from purchase.

  • Instruments are built with traditional hide glue to help release seams before wood cracks.Maintain 40%–60% relative humidity and avoid temperatures outside ~50–85°F. Protect the instrument from rapid changes in temperature/humidity and never leave it in a hot or cold vehicle. We highly recommend a wooden or premium-quality violin case for better humidity stability and safe transport. Aim for 40–60% RH; use a case hygrometer and humidifier as needed.

  • Cracks are not covered, as they result from improper care or environmental stress.

  • Not covered: Bridge damage caused by an ill-fitting case or case-lid pressure. If the lid or padding touches the bridge, do not close the case—have the fit adjusted.

Bridge care & case fit

  • Keep it centered & upright: The bridge should stay centered between the f-hole notches and upright. After tuning, check the bridge and gently straighten if it has leaned—lightly nudge the top so the back face stays roughly perpendicular to the top plate.

Bows — Limited Warranty

  • Who’s covered: Original purchaser only; warranty is non-transferable.

  • Warranty remedy: This is a repair-only warranty. Replacement or store credit is not guaranteed and, if considered, is at Vince Violins’ sole discretion.

  • What’s covered: Defects in materials and construction of the bow stick for 6 month from the purchase date.

  • Hair not covered: Bow hair is a consumable and not covered—except for the original hair installation workmanship, covered for 6 months.

  • Bow-bug damage not covered: Damage from carpet beetles (“bow bugs”) is excluded. To help prevent this, use your bow regularly or store it in a sealed bag during long idle periods.

  • Care & misuse exclusions: No coverage for damage from neglect, misuse, impacts, over-tightening, or improper storage (heat/cold/humidity extremes). Normal cosmetic wear (e.g., finish scratches) is excluded.

  • Camber/warping: We will correct minor camber loss/warping under normal use within 6 months of purchase. Warping due to environmental extremes or leaving the bow tightened is excluded. Always loosen the bow after playing.

  • Repairs elsewhere void coverage: The warranty is void if any repair or attempt to repair is performed by anyone other than Vince Violins.

  • Cracks: Cracks to the head or stick are not covered. Wooden bows are inherently vulnerable at the head even when no other damage is visible.

  • Humidity & case guidance: Maintain 40%–60% relative humidity and avoid temperatures outside ~50–85°F. Protect the bow from rapid temperature/humidity changes and never leave it in a hot or cold vehicle. We highly recommend a wooden or premium-quality case for better humidity stability and safe transport; use a case hygrometer and humidifier as needed.

Cases — Limited Warranty

  • Who’s covered: Original purchaser only; warranty is non-transferable.

  • What’s covered: Defects in materials or workmanship of the case shell, seams, hardware (latches, hinges, zippers, handles), and straps for 6 months from the purchase date.

  • Warranty remedy: At our discretion, we will repair or replace the defective case or component. Because manufacturers update designs, repaired or replacement parts will be the closest available match to the original.

Not covered:

  • Normal wear, misuse, or neglect (e.g., scuffs, fabric fray, wheel wear, abrasion, impact damage, heat/cold/humidity exposure).

  • Damage to instruments, bows, or personal property stored or transported in the case.

  • Improper fit/closure (e.g., lid or padding pressing on the bridge or bow). See our bridge/case-fit guidance.

  • Used cases are sold as-is and are not eligible for returns or exchanges.

Repair Warranty

What’s covered

  • Workmanship defects directly related to the repair performed by Vince Violins within 30 days of service.

  • If covered, we will re-perform the work or make necessary corrections at no charge.

Bridges

  • Not covered against breakage, warping, or movement. Bridges naturally settle with use and seasonal changes and may require periodic adjustment or replacement.

Bow Rehairs

  • Coverage is limited to hair installation workmanship within the warranty period.

  • Not covered: hair loss due to insects (bow bugs), or hair that stretches or shrinks because of climate changes or the passage of time.

  • Recommendation: plan to re-hair every ~6 months with regular use.

Not covered (examples)

  • Normal wear and tear from playing.

  • Neglect, misuse, or accidents (e.g., improper humidification, impact/drops, leaving a bow tightened, long-term storage without care).

  • Environmental damage from heat/cold/humidity extremes or rapid changes.

  • Cosmetic outcomes that do not affect function (minor finish marks, color variation).

  • Bow tips and cracks (including cracks to the head or stick).

Instrument restorations

Restoration and tonal work involve professional judgment. We cannot guarantee a specific varnish color match or exact tonal result. Our goal is to bring out the instrument’s best voice while respecting the original maker’s intent.
